Make Me An Instrument

We must let the Holy Spirit open our eyes that we might be able to see others as God sees them; with all of the gifts and strengths that He endowed them with as He knit them together in their mothers’ wombs. Our human tendency is to just view others through the lense of the world which limits us to a distorted view of God's creation. It only allows us to see the results of what the world has done to others and that which tends to happen with the loss of hope and with a lack of compassion and grace. The solution, I believe, is to allow grace and mercy to flow back into every part of our relationships with others in the way that God's grace and mercy has flowed into each of our own lives. With that, Hope increases. May God’s peace sustain and strengthen us this day!

The prayer of St. Francis says:

"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.
"O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life." Amen.

Wonderful words for each of us to meditate on and to pray. May God's peace strengthen and sustain us this day!
